Bright Funky Groovy Prints!

The new mesh of cultures within the United States has shaped how we walk, talk and dress.  Why not celebrate a distinctive part of American fashion…African fashion! It has changed since I have had picked out a handmade outfit by a family friend.  Even then the styles I picked were out dated.  But now to me the pieces I have chosen then are quite timeless. 

Those bold, bright funky, groovy prints you see those of Nigeria wear are more than a thing of the past…they are the future actually.

But hey check this out… I have even noticed something familiar with what our first lady has been wearing.  

The First Lady of the United States (FLOTUS) has been flaunting unique prints.  Prints that exude burst energy, such as the designs of Duro Olowu.  He’s known for rich prints and saturated colors inspired by his heritage, so expect plenty of bold patterns meant for mixing and matching in your spring wardrobe. 

Feeling inspired yet? I can see a matching pair of shoes…clutch…necklace…broach …etc.  So many the possibilities are infinite.  Celebrate the unique styles created by Duro Olowu and still dress to impress like the First Lady! She wore a Duro Olowu dress and marigold-yellow heels when she participated in an election campaign rally to re-elect Barack Obama at the University of Mary Washington in Virginia in early September.

First Lady Michelle Obama, Malia and Sasha arrived in Waterkloff Air Force Base in Pretoria, South Africa. The girls were presented with South African blankets to keep them warm. Michelle wore a fabulous black and orange printed Duro Olowu jacket paired with black trousers.

 FLOTUS takes her coat off to participate in activities to raise awareness for HIV prevention at Cape Town Stadium. She looks as though she is having a ball!!
